A: At Stepping Stone we do not turn anyone away due to inability to pay. We work on a sliding fee scale based on your income and your number of dependents. If you do not have health insurance, we will help you apply for coverage.

Q: How long are your programs?
A: The program length depends on the treatment that is needed for the individual. That will be determined once a person comes in for an initial assessment, but generally 21-28 days.

Q: Do you only provide service for substance addiction?
A: Stepping Stone is an addictions treatment facility. We help those with many different addictions, including alcohol/drugs as well as other addictions that are not related to substances, such as gambling and sex addiction. In addition, we can treat co-occurring mental health conditions.

Q: As a parent, can I make my child go to treatment?
A: If your child is over the age of 18 you cannot force them into treatment. If they are under the age of 18 please visit our children and family services page for more information.

A: No, you do not have to be an Indiana resident. However, we suggest that you please call us first to check your insurance coverage and eligibility. If we cannot serve you, we are happy to assist you in finding another provider.

What to Expect on Your First Outpatient Visit

When you arrive for your first visit in outpatient, we have a few steps for you to complete prior to meeting a therapist.

Step 1: Our administrative assistants will then meet with you privately to review our forms and have you sign them, if you agree. We require you to sign a consent to treat you (gives us permission to see you) and we will also offer you a copy of our privacy practices. If there are people you would like involved in your treatment, or have us share information with, we will also have you sign a Release of Information to give us permission to do so.

Step 2: If you do not have insurance, we can help! We can apply for Presumptive Eligibility for Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP), and if you are approved, your insurance starts immediately. You will then have approximately 30-60 days to complete the full application for HIP. We do have staff that can assist you with this as needed.

Step 3: You will see a licensed clinician that specializes in Addictions and Mental Health. They will review your information provided and will work with you to develop a plan for treatment.

This first appointment is to discuss what problems you have been having and develop a plan for treatment. Future appointments will be scheduled at that visit after you agree on a plan. This first visit will not involve seeing a physician.
